MARIA CATANZARO, MA, LCPC
Owner and therapist
There are many issues that impact and pull at us in life. It can come in the form of pressures from the outside world, the inner criticisms we feel, or trauma and stress we have experienced. Some may have felt they’ve lost connections within themselves because of the chaos and devastation that life sometimes brings. All these factors can play a role in making someone feel unbalanced.
"My adult clients were once children, and my child clients will become adults. We all hold our own individual experience in this world."
In my work with clients, I believe it is important to first listen to their story, their upbringing, and their experiences. It is vital to consider the unique parts of each individual including the mind, body, and soul. When we mindfully address all of those parts, we can then live a balanced life. I strive to provide a safe and non-judgmental space where clients can begin or continue the journey of healing.
I have always enjoyed listening to people and learning to understand them. I have a passion for helping the misunderstood and for looking beyond the surface.

Seeing a client feel more empowered and connected to their true self brings me fulfillment. Working with different ages keeps me sharp, and gives me a unique perspective. It strengthens my ability to understand the various feelings and thoughts that each of my clients experience. My adult clients were once children, and my child clients will become adults. We all hold our own individual experience in this world.

Alongside using client centered theory, I work by looking through the lens of attachment and trauma while considering the many parts that make up an individual. Some of the research-based techniques I use (but not limited to) are: CBT, attachment-based therapy, Internal family systems, DBT, mindfulness, meditation techniques, play therapy, sandtray therapy, and I help with ADHD and executive functioning skills.
